Hats by Bunn (Part 1 of 2)
Bunn is a master hat maker who makes and sells his hats from his store in Harlem. His amazing creations in felt, straw and other materials, are worn by men and women from church to stage, from every day to special events.
Hats By Bunn, a documentary by Charles Martin, shows Bunn at work. We see his store, some clients drop in, and some proud owners of his hats, including Margaret Porter Troupe, Quincy Troupe and Pheeroan akLaff. Music for the documentary includes a score by Pheeroan akLaff, and additional music by Marcelino Thompson, who also worked shooting the film.
The documentary is by Charles Martin, who teaches Comparative Literature at Queens College, City University of New York, and regularly exhibits at June Kelly Gallery.
