It comes in 3 colors, Black, Red and this pretty Pearl.
The unit measures about 13 inches tall, 14 inches deep and 10.5 inches wide. This is the drip tray and plate that goes over it. The drip tray can hold up to 8 ounces. The water reservoir holds 70 ounces and is BPA free, there is a max fill line here, so don’t fill above that. Included are 6 k-cups including Donut Shop, Breakfast Blend, Italian Roast, Pike Place Roast, Hazelnut and English Breakfast Tea. Two water filters and water filter handle are also included. The color touchscreen has a lot of settings. You can use k-cup pods, Vue pods, k-carafe pods and k-mug pods with this unit. The K-Cup Pods settings allows you to choose a 4 oz, 6, 8, 10 or 12 oz size. The Hot Water sizes are the same as the K-cup 4 to 12 oz. K-Mug pods and Vue pods are 12 oz, 14 or 16 oz. The K-carafe settings are 2-3 cups - 22 oz, 3-4 26 oz or 4-5 cups 30 oz. When you use the Carafe setting, there is an auto brew option so you can set the time you want it to start brewing. There is cord storage.
With the settings, you can choose your language, english, french or spanish, set the time and choose digital or analog display. It’s simple to use and the screen is bright. There are also auto on/off settings so you can set the time for the unit to turn on and off automatically. There’s an energy saver setting where you can choose a length of time to turn off after the last brew. After you cup is finished brewing, the unit can turn off in 15 minutes or 30 etc. There’s also preferred brew settings that you can save. Choose your wallpaper and temperature, the default setting is 192 degrees Fahrenheit for K-cup pods and 197 degrees for K-mug, Vue and K-carafe pods, high altitude and water filter reminder.
If you are using the included water filter, soak it in water for 5 minutes and rinse it under water for one minute. Rinse the lower filter holder under water. Put the cartridge into the holder and snap on the other part. Set the month so you know when to change it. Push the holder into the reservoir until it locks.
When you first get the unit, plug it in, lift the handle and remove the disk. Wash the water reservoir and fill it with filtered water. There is a max fill line here, so don’t fill above that. Press the power button and let it heat for about 3 minutes. Put a 12 ounce mug on the drip tray. Lift and lower the handle. Press continue, select the 8 ounce size and press brew. After the cycle has ended, you can brew coffee.
To brew a cup of coffee, put a mug on the tray. My mug is 12 ounces. Put a K-cup pod in the holder, I’m using. Lower the handle, select brew size and strong if you want a stronger cup of coffee. The strong setting is only for coffee. Press the brew button. The coffee is hot and tastes really good. The reservoir is illuminated. You can buy a Keurig 2.0 My K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filter if you want to use your own ground coffee. You cannot use a reusable filter that works with the classic Keurig brewers, you have to buy the 2.0 coffee filter. I’ll put a link in the description below.
While using the K-cup pod or K-carafe pod, if you want to stop the brewing process, press the power button for a second or slowly lift the handle.
If there is not enough water in the reservoir, there will be a “more water please” message on the screen.
To clean, turn off and unplug the unit. Wait till it’s cool. The outside can be wiped down with a damp soapy cloth. Don’t put any parts in the dishwasher. The drip tray and plate can be rinsed clean. The carafe, water reservoir and lid can be rinsed out. Don’t dry the inside of the reservoir with a cloth as lint can stay in there. To clean the pod holder, lift the handle, push up and pull out the pod holder assembly and base. Press the release buttons on the sides. The holder, housing and base can be cleaned with warm soapy water. Push the holder back into the housing. Put the base and the pod holder assembly into the head. If the unit needs to descaled or if there is an issue with brewing, a message will be displayed. There are instructions in the manual for descaling and cleaning the needle.
