The new ZURIGA T2 combines an incredibly simple interface with some seriously advanced espresso technology: Brew-by-Weight, pressure and flow profiling, Puck Saturation, Bloom, Shot Repair, an integrated scale, five customizable coffee profiles, a rotary pump with proportional valve, powerful steam performance and a companion app with live extraction curves.

In this review, I test the ZURIGA T2 in real-world use to find out whether all of that technology actually makes better espresso or just makes an espresso machine unnecessarily complicated.

I test the warm-up time, integrated Brew-by-Weight system, espresso workflow, pressure and flow profiling, Shot Repair, milk steaming performance and the ZURIGA app. Most importantly, I look at what the T2 is like to actually live with every day.

Despite everything happening inside the machine, ZURIGA has kept the physical interface incredibly simple. You can create detailed coffee profiles in the app, but once everything is dialed in, making espresso can be as simple as selecting a profile and pressing one button.

I also test whether the T2 can compensate when the grind size isn’t quite right and how accurately the integrated scale stops shots at the programmed brew ratio.

At more than €5,000, the ZURIGA T2 is firmly in premium espresso machine territory, competing with some of the best home espresso machines on the market.
