Brew & Review #18 – Ethiopian & Kenyan Coffees from Tim Wendelboe:
In episode 18 of Brew & Review, Mike and I drink the last of our gifted Tim Wendelboe subscription. thank you, Jon, so much for your kindness to us. It's been great drinking coffee from a legend.
In this episode
For both of these coffees, we used the Clever Dripper to brew them. I drank them the next day, and got a better result with the Hario V60. That's the method I would recommend for both of these coffee:
-Kiawamururu
-Hunkute
-Kiawamururu
The varietals listed were SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11 and Batian. It was harvested in November, 2017. A washed coffee from Nyeri, Kenya, the flavor notes listed were:
-Winey
-Black currants
-Flowers
I really liked how this coffee tasted, even with the Clever Dripper. However, since our recording, I've enjoyed it even more on the Hario V60.
Hunkute
A certified organic coffee by Debio, this was a washed Ethiopian Heirloom from Dalle, Sidamo. With a December, 2017 harvest, the flavor notes given were:
-Bergamot
-Lemon
-Jasmine
I didn't like this coffee much, and I think it's because of the brew method. It was much better on the Hario V60. That's how I've drank it since.
