I recently purchased this coffee maker. It definitely brews the coffee hot
and fast. I love the simplicity and the thermal carafe. With that said, the
coffee comes out more bitter than expected. This was using pre ground
starbucks house blend and peets major dickinsons coffee (preground). Is it
better to use beans and grind them course for this coffee maker? I love the
machine but the coffee is coming out more bitter than I expected.

I’ve used the model with the thermal carafe for about a year now. I like it
better than the Bunn, a better cup and it doesn’t stay on all the time. The
glass lined thermal carafe that came with the unit did not keep coffee hot
enough to drink for more than about an hour.

I discovered that Melitta makes an identical carafe that keeps the coffee
hotter by about 20F even after just 30 minutes. It’s better and it’s about
$50.

Realized that there was nothing in the auto-drip coffee section, so I
thought I’d share a video I did for +Prima Coffee Equipment about my
favorite auto-brewer – the Bonavita.

Looks like the Technovorm….

Prima Coffee says:

That’s so strange! Is the water temperature that low or just the resulting
coffee temperature? Coffee temp around 180 wouldn’t be too surprising but
the water should come out of the machine right around 200-205 degrees.

My friend is barista and coffee bonafita said that this is one of the best
“electric maker” is true?

Chris Elliott says:

Which carafe are you using? I find that the thermal carafe keeps coffee hot
for hours on end. The glass carafe obviously won’t perform the same, but
you’re losing a lot more than heat after an hour — flavor suffers
considerably. No coffeemaker should be judged by how great the coffee
tastes after an hour. That’s like rating a car’s performance after it hits
200,000 miles.

Prima Coffee says:

It’s definitely the best under $200, Daniel!
