Nice hack…thanks. Here's my coffee quote for ya: "I don't drink coffee to wake up, I wake up to drink coffee."
Hah! You dropped and cracked your lid too 😀
Glad I'm not the only butterfingers.
Nice hack. I had heard of wiping the bin with a very lightly moistened paper towel, but not dripping drops of water into the bean-filled hopper. I'll try that.
Cute. Now everybody go try it for yourself and you'll quickly realize how wonderful editing can be. It will eliminate some static cling, but nowhere near what he would have you believe. If you can, replace your plastic grounds container with a suitable glass jar. For some reason the static just doesn't build up in glass like it does in plastic.
Just watched the video and frankly I was very skeptical. I then decided to try it out right away on my Breville burr grinder which has been causing an enormous amount of static. I followed the directions and – voila – it worked. Not 100% elimination of static but, realistically, about 90-95% which, to me counts as a success. I had been about to purchase the Zerostat for about $100, because I was so frustrated at the mess my Breville was creating. I then found your site and now the problem seems to have been resolved without spending a penny (okay, the segment of paper towel probably costs 1/4 of a penny :-)) Thanks for your advice.
I’ve noticed it works. I’ve also noticed that it isn’t as big of a problem with lighter roasts.
Oh thank you this has been driving me nuts.
I can't believe Gail on the otherwise reliable Seattle Coffee Gear said there are no solutions. And you nailed it. Totally works on my Baratza Encore. Thank you. And that British guy who said wet the handle of a spoon and stir the beans with it? Doesn't work.
Thank you thank you THANK YOU!!! It is RIDICULOUS how well this works!!! There I was, trying to find a burr grinder with a three-prong cord to replace my current grinder, thinking that it had to be grounded to solve this problem. Turns out, the fix is a 99-cent eyedropper. Thank you!!!
I grind only enough coffee for one, possibly two cups per day for a pour over. How often should I put the three drops of water in my bean hopper?
THANKS, I must try this hack! I just discovered probably a pretty famous coffee quote from Thomas Jefferson when I recently visited the St. Louis Arch and bought a mug at the gift shop "Coffee, the favorite drink of the Civilized world"! Who knew that the Archway Park was really dedicated to Jefferson?
I MUST TRY THIS!
So I have the same grinder. What setting do you use to make Chemex coffee?
Thanks for the AMAZING hack… it's gotten to where I tear whole pages out of magazines to sit under the grinder
OMG :O This just changed my life !
