It’s been a few years since we first met the gorgeous Xelsis one-touch superauto by Saeco, so we thought it was time for a little refresher. Now that Gail ha…

Hi! I saw that there’s also this newer model “Xelsis Evo” (HD8954/47), and
I’m just wondering if you know anything about it and what the main
differences are between the Xelsis Evo and the Xelsis ID. Thanks!

I only hear rumors that it’s sometime this fall — no concrete info. – Kat

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

I hear they are releasing a new carafe for this and the Exprelia which will
improve this, similar in design to what is on the Intelia Capp machine ….
we’re hoping that they’ll make them available separately here in the US
like they have in Europe, but it won’t be around until the fall I think. –

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Intenza is better – it filters and softens, while the AP just filters.
Intenza means less descaling (potentially) and a bit better tasting coffee
(better TDS balance). The pricing is just stupid sourcing BS, not anything
to do with the actual product 😉 – Kat

Oh, and the fingerprint scanner is basically useless to me since I have
very dry fingers. It works fine for my wife who has baby-soft skin, but I
have to moisten my finger it will work sometimes, but it is hit and miss.
Unless you must have the polished stainless steel finish, I would save the
money and go for the cheaper brushed finish model without the fingerprint
reader – but the polished finish is very nice.

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

You can set it to just pull extra long, basically; same pressure as
espresso – Kat

Kat – Is there an advantage to the Aqua Prima filter? I have been using the
Saeco Intenza, but wondering if I should switch. They seem to cost almost
double what the Intenza costs – do they last longer or something?

barrettfb says:

kinda disappointed that you didn’t give us a demonstration of what it can
do. :/

I just saw American coffee in the counter menu. Do they mean an American or
does it pull an extra long black like the Gran Dama Avant?

Hi, What is the new milk jug coming out?

riko san jvan says:

beatifull 🙂

Gail has the same issue! I think it’s because she was a jewel thief in a
former life and so handily ‘removed’ her fingerprints 😉 Personally, I wish
the reader was more sophisticated — that instead of taking you just to
your profile, it would initiate your default drink of choice. – Kat

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Gail has done a few Xelsis videos. You can find them on the product page
under the Resources tab. Videos include using the machine, steaming and
machine maintenance. ~sam

First to comment!! Haha. I own this machine and love it. The only issue I
have with it is if you use the automatic milk frothing, it is not very hot.
One way around this is to take the carafe out of the fridge and let it
“warm up” a bit before using it. Great videos – keep them coming.
