Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Awwww …. but the changes are relatively minor and your machine is still
awesome!! – Kat

Colin Fiola says:

Do you prefer this machine to the Izzo Duetta III? Also if you were to pair
a grinder with either of these for home use, which would it be?

Albert Plawinski says:

So what are the improvements?

augsburg says:

We have the R58 V1 and love it. The shots we can pull are consistently
outstanding. From the video, I can see the V2’s new nylon drip tray rails
and magnetic catch for the drip tray would be a big improvement over the
V1. The drip tray on the V1 either fits loosely and rattles, or fits too
tight with the plastic guards installed over the metal rails. So I’m glad
they fixed this problem on the V2. Otherwise, the machine is excellent, and
there is little to improve.

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Yay!!! Enjoy it 😀 – Kat

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

I know that they are working on a next iteration that will likely be out
this summer. They’ll be showing at SCAA in Boston in April so we’ll have
more info on new products, etc., after that time. – Kat

Tony Featherstone says:

And the AU dollar is stronger than the US, so go figure!

FullAttach says:

I’ve watched a lot of your “steamings” and I’m a lot surprised that this
expensive, 1.7L boilers machine noticeably lack steam power!!! What am I
missing?

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

These were actually released nearly a year ago; the change in the board is
really focused on the steaming demands of the US market and prioritizes
steam heating so that it has a faster recovery time. – Kat

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

I was just reading about that — and article on BBC news was talking about
how high the cost of living is there these days. But also that y’all were
able to keep your economy high & tight so I guess there’s trade-offs 😉 –
Kat

lightsinthesky10 says:

how would this machine compare to the Nuova Simonelli musica. In australia
the rocket R58 is roughly double the price!. Is the end result twice as
good? how much so ? 10% better shot? 20? 30? if you could give a estimate
that would be great:) thanks

Tony Featherstone says:

Over $4000 retail in Australia !!

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Well, temp control is really only important if you do want to play with it;
otherwise, I think most Hx machines can be tweaked to work with your
specific fave coffee and then kick ass from there. – Kat

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Great to hear that you’re still loving your V1! I agree that this was more
about some minor fine tuning, but enough tweaks that it merited a new
iteration as it were 🙂 – Kat

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Yeah, definitely not in everyone’s budget! 🙂 – Kat

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Hahaha – yeah, we’ll just do a half gallon at a time 😉 – Kat

stefanenco says:

Menometers = mahna mahna

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Thank you for watching!! Glad you’re diggin’ the videos – Kat

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Yay!!!! 🙂 – Kat

davmrls says:

For $2,699.00….no thanks!

thesleepydogs says:

This machine looks fantastic. Big fan of SCG all the way from Brisbane
Australia. Always love your reviews. Thank you ladies.

Eamonn Doyle says:

oh cool im from brisbane too

Mark Holloway says:

Thanks ladies. Thanks to you, I took delivery of my new R58 yesterday.
Still tuning it in but I love it so far and the cappuccinos are … yummy!

PlanetWasabi.com says:

Kat – Do you know if a version 2 of the BDB is coming out soon?

Wolfgang Zeller says:

Well, for even more fun I suggest using a 1l milk pitcher. You might be
able to extend the time to steam up your latte from the 45 seconds shown to
maybe 2 minutes or so… 😉

theoharis2000 says:

and cool machine?

DubsMood says:

love the notneutral cups! 😉

Tony Featherstone says:

Sydney and Melbourne are two of the most expensive cities in the world 🙁
Paradise dont come cheap !

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Hahahaha – I like that, great eye 🙂 – Kat

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Wow! Serious business. – Kat

mbarigian says:

This is me being sad that my R58 v1 is less than 4 months old. :-/

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Well, it’s also a 15 amp, 110v machine; there are some limitations on power
simply because of that. It doesn’t steam any less quickly than other
machines in this class, but a commercial machine is still going to beat it.
Compare this to how long it takes to steam on a small single boiler and
you’ll notice a huge difference in the R58’s favor – Kat

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

It’s really about temp control; if you want to play with the temp, the
Musica isn’t designed for that, so the R58 will be a better choice for you.
If you don’t, the Musica pulls phenomenal shots – Kat

TheCuznvin says:

Anew control board after being released for only four months is minor? DO
you notice any differences in shots with steaming or shots with this new
board?

lightsinthesky10 says:

Thanks for the reply Kat, great videos btw keep up the good work. As for
the differences between the musica and the R58, I think temperature control
is quite important. I have had the musica for over 1 year and have adjusted
the boiler as it was running too hot. I can see how the R58 would be much
better for someone that likes to change temps depending on the beans/blend.

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Menomena! 😀 – Kat

Steven Bird says:

YOWSER! A V2 Rocket!!! BOOM!

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Changed the chassis, updated the firmware and the control board,
implemented a spiral cord for the PID interface – Kat

commets says:

I like the new glasses =)

theoharis2000 says:

B-) cool glasses!;-)

gıysettin x says:

Sois0heureux says:

It’s a squirrel-latte-art! 😀

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Goes the dynamite? – Kat

Napoleones Sin Batallas says:

I love you girls… been smiling the whole 7:34 mins! ♥

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

They’re neck and neck for me, although I do lean a bit more toward the
R58’s design … functionally, I feel like they produce the same cup at the
end of the day. I would probably go with a Baratza Vario at minimum but a
stepless would really be ideal — lovin’ the Nuova Simonelli MCI these days
– Kat

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Very light; it’s not going to recover super fast and it’s not rated for
that use so if you have any permit related things re: NSF, etc., it would
not meet that need. – Kat

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Our shipment should clear customs today 🙂 – Kat

Daniel Häggblom says:

Does gail have new glasses :)?
