Erik Bekirsky says:

Is it possible to upgrade to non-pressurized portafilters on this machine?

alfred molina says:

esspresso in 12 second?

jazzbuckeye says:

Do you think that the two streams will be too wide to aim into a 2 oz
demitasse cup?

henri Henry says:

@SeattleCoffeeGear well… it should be labeled as private, the way
kat&gail are talking about it … “put the nipples in and give it a twist”
…. LMAO

Syed Abdullah says:

Hello, I’ve been wanting to buy an espresso machine and am deciding between
the DeLonghi (Kenwood) kMix ES 021 and the Philips-Saeco Poemia. Which one
would you suggest? Thanks

Abo Jassin says:

Thanks for the video! I have a Kenwood Kmix 021 which is similar to the
DeLonghi. I´m having a tuff time finding the right grind/tamp, think it´s
due to the pressurized filter. Do you have any news on that
non-pressurized? Thanx in advance and cheers from Germany

Warrenff5 says:

I had a delonghi once. worked great the first week but went downhill.
returned it for an upgrade. much happier now!.

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

@laulowen Well, these do have an air injection hole on the panarello, so
making sure that is exposed to air when you want to make bubbles is the
most important thing. If that is submerged, it will just be steamed milk. –
Kat

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

We’re trying to get some options going; our previous one isn’t looking good
fulfillment-wise, so we’re still searching. – Kat

Ciara Murphy says:

Other but you havnt done one on the new kettle. Also, i know that
intelligentsia, in venice ca, uses them in their coffee bars so it must be
good

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

@tritop Yeah, it’s aluminum so not great with temp stability – Kat

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

We don’t get returns on these very often, but these aren’t a big seller for
us overall. In general, I would say these smaller DeLonghi single boilers
aren’t built with great QA and are more replace machines rather than repair
machines. – Kat

Steven Bird says:

All this talk of nipples gives me wrong thoughts about you two!! LOL Pretty
little machine though…

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Are you considering the Infuser? If so, that’s the choice IMHO 😀 – Kat

mhooy2009 says:

Hello Kat. I have problem with kMix steam wand. When I turn the machine up
there is drops of water and if I turn the steam on there is steam comes
from the wand. I had kMix from only one month. Please help me.

KAPTAN AMX says:

Hi there. So it turns out that Kenwood has acquired Delonghi though all
Delonghi stuff iis still designed in Italy and parts are procured from
China. Also Kenwood continues to market Delonghi with its original name in
the US while same models with Kenwood branding in eastern countries. About
the machine, after about 6 months of 5 cups everyday, I can say that
espresso quality is pretty good…intact its fantastic when you put the
price tag of the machine next to it. The draw back is basically

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

@TarotLadyLissa I’m not sure what you’re asking here … can you explain? –
Kat

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

@dmy1257 Since these are pressurized portafilters, you can generally just
fill them to the top and level them out. If you want to get fancy, you
could weigh it — single is 7 – 10 grams, double is 14 – 18 grams,
generally – Kat

TarotLadyLissa says:

do yo prefer filters with 1 or 2 drip hole?

KAPTAN AMX says:

About the steam wand..I am not really a champion milk steamer but the
panarello wand on this machine froths decently for cappuccinos but for a
latte…or any kind if pour art..it was almost
impossible……UNTIL….unscrew the bottom portion of the wand and dip it
just about touching the surface of the milk…and spin that
knob….behold…superb microfoam. Enjoy..

ChromeMajed says:

i have same but Kenwood brand !! Kenwood kmix ES 021

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

I like the casing on this guy a bit better than the Poemia, but the Poemia
has a bit better temp regulation, so the shots can taste better – Kat

SenterWithEase says:

Hello Kat/Gayle, So I’ve been thinking about getting the kmix but I see
mixed reviews online and some of them are pretty bad. A lot of them are
about the machine ceasing to work after a few weeks or months and about
delonghi having terrible customer service. Of the K-mixes that you have
sold… do you often get them returned/do you get many complaints? Thanks
so much for your response in advance.

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Sadly, no; the closest is these types of machines with pressurized baskets
or portafilters; they can handle pods (which are like little tea bags with
a measured espresso puck in them) and ground coffee. Machines that work
with capsules have to be significantly adapted so they aren’t ground coffee
friendly. – Kat

Steve Adams says:

What cup are you using? I need to buy some of these.

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

We did a rough test and the non-pressurized basket that we modified for the
older Breville machines works with most of them. Still need to actually
test it out and see how it improves the shot, etc. I have it slated for
testing/filming the week of July 30th and it will post in August. – Kat

techai says:

Thanks, I’ll look forward to your findings. I’ve been doing shots based on
the color of the crema coming from the portafilter holes. I try to stop it
between lighter brown and creamy white. If it goes longer than that, it
tastes watery to me. I’ve been grinding as fine as my Maestro will grind (I
know it not quite true espresso grind) and tamping. Thanks.

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Hmmmmm…..tough call! I think they’ll have similar performance / longevity
… maybe choose it based on which one you think looks better? – Kat

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

@zepoe Yeah, it seems to perform like their others — good value but a
prettier case. However, I think I’d probably kick up my budget for better
shots at the end of the day – Kat

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

Cool! Yeah, definitely calibrate it by flavor. – Kat

Vinay Jain says:

Should I buy the kMix or the saeco Peomia

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

If you have had the machine for awhile, this could be a sign that you need
to descale it. If you haven’t, sounds like there is something up with the
o-rings in the steam valve so you might want to contact DeLonghi for
repair, etc. – Kat

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

@steveb1972 Hahahahahaha – keep it clean 😉 – Kat

tritop says:

I have that Portafilter too, it loses temperature rather fast when it’s out
of the machine, my coffee becomes sour then too. Love to have the Giotto
Evo one day

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

@hugecookiemonster Hahaha – yes, and pressurized baskets also create
muddiness 🙂 – Kat

Vinay Jain says:

Thanks I think i’ll the buy the Poemia

Christopher Burnham says:

The “mud splatter” is down to no 3 way valve to release the pressure. I
know you probably know this already, just thought I would mention for the
people that don’t know. 🙂

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

There will be some condensation and dripping naturally when the machine is
getting up to steam; similarly, I find that the machine does this a bit as
it’s heating up and before valves are fully engaged through pressure, etc.
Or am I not understanding the nature of your problem? – Kat

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

@ciaramurphy100 If you can give me a model number I can see if we can – Kat

TarotLadyLissa says:

@SeattleCoffeeGear Some portafilters have just one stream of espresso come
out, and others are double…. is there a difference in taste or volume?

Denya Geraldes says:

Hi Kat, Hi Gail: The Breville and Delonghi kMix are similarly priced, but
are they comparable, in your opinion? Thanks! -Denya

Syed Abdullah says:

Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I guess I’ll go with the Poemia
then. A Very Happy New Year to you! (In advance)

Kenneth Chan says:

Hi, Is there an espresso machine that supports/accepts capsules (Nespresso)
and also (still) supports classic ground? I want to have the liberty of
using my choice of ground coffee and from time to time use a capsule?

Seattle Coffee Gear says:

@LeftNet Yeah – looks like a private label maker 🙂 – Kat
